The plastination laboratory
Evolution of our laboratory

In 1992, only basic equipment was available in a corner of the dissection room, allowing plastination using silicone.

The equipment was expanded year after year, and in 2000, a new laboratory was built, enabling the application of silicone techniques as well as those based on epoxy and polyester resins.

Our laboratory today

At present, the laboratory operates continuously, and the specimens produced are used for teaching and research purposes.

Some specimens are allocated to the Veterinary Anatomy Museum for exhibition, while others are sent to fellow anatomists — both national and international — upon request through formal agreements.

One of the busiest periods in the laboratory coincides with the practical sessions conducted during the annual plastination courses.

what do we do in the laboratory?

Silicone plastination (S10): for hand-held anatomical specimens free of volatile compounds.

Transparent sheets and sections (polyester/epoxy): for high-precision anatomical slicing.

Educational edition: developed through our OrganKits project.
